    Technology availability

    NB-IoT standardization was completed in 2016, and yet technology roll-out has been slow. So far, less than one-third of all countries have had NB-IoT deployed.

    Global roaming

    As of today, NB-IoT roaming is relatively limited, and few network providers have offered multi-network NB-IoT access for global IoT deployments. One reason is that operators are currently transitioning from a pure volume-based intercarrier billing model to one that also incorporates base pricing per device.

    PSM and eDRX are two important features to deliver the best power-saving capability in cellular LPWAN. Therefore, it's recommended to ensure they are supported with NB-IoT network services when the low-power requirement prevails.
