Revolutionize IoT Connectivity
with emnify Advanced eSIM
(SGP.32)

Simplify global deployments with one SKU for every market, remotely manage operator profiles, and ensure seamless connectivity with a built-in global fallback.

What is SGP.32?

SGP.32, also known as IoT eSIM, is the latest GSMA SIM standard created specifically for the Internet of Things.

It blends the strengths of earlier standards SGP.02 for M2M and SGP.22 for consumer devices, into one flexible, scalable solution.

With older M2M eSIMs (SGP.02), switching providers was technically possible but often slow, expensive, and heavily coordinated. Consumer eSIMs (SGP.22) made switching easier but relied on user interaction and devices with a screen.

SGP.32 changes the game giving you remote, over-the-air control of which operator profile your SIM uses, straight from a connectivity platform. No user input, no complex processes. Just instant adaptability.

So what does SGP.32 mean for your business?

1. One SKU for every market

Eliminate region-specific SIMs and hardware variants. Ship one SKU worldwide and simply adjust the profile when the device moves into new regions.

2. Expand into new regions without touching your devices

Add or remove operators instantly and remotely as your footprint grows with no need for SIM swaps or site visits.

3. Manage all your operators from one place

View, add, or remove operator profiles in a single platform to simplify managing multiple providers

4. Get connected with a built-in global fallback

Source SIMs and bootstrap profiles with one operator, then add new profiles as needed to keep devices online everywhere

How emnify helps

This is a clear benefit of SGP.32 and we support it fully. But why juggle multiple providers when one global profile can do it all? With emnify, your devices connect to 540+ networks in 190+ countries through a single operator and a single profile.

More than just a bootstrap

Every device starts with a bootstrap profile, but with SGP.32 it doubles as a fallback. This ensures devices stay connected if a primary profile fails.

How emnify helps

Our bootstrap profile is not a placeholder. It is a live global connection with 540+ networks in 190+ countries. If your primary profile drops, your devices stay online everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

SIM vendors are currently certifying the SGP.32 eSIMs with a target date of September 2025. emnify will build a product based on this with planned release early 2026. You can already get test eSIMs earlier. Just contact us via the form below.

Any IoT device that supports eUICC and the BIP protocol. We advise you to test the remote OTA updates with your modem and hardware. We will publish which devices we have tested shortly.

Yes, this is possible. We will offer profiles that you can download on a third party IoT eUICC. Please see the third process in the above diagram on this page.

SIMs with previous eSIM standards (M2M eSIM SGP.02, Consumer eSIM SGP.22) cannot be updated to be compatible with the new standard. You will need to use IoT eSIM compatible hardware to access Advanced eSIM benefits.

When using emnify's profile as the backup or as a bootstrap profile you will not be charged with the regular data plan costs. If your SIMs is active but no data is consumed you will only be charged a minimal fee.

emnify will provide two options:

Option A: Access all core eIM functionalities directly in the emnify portal, including profile download, enable/disable, fallback management, and troubleshooting logs.

Option B: For advanced users, emnify also offers a full eIM with extended functionality for deeper configuration and analysis.

Opposed to many other operators that have to pay recurring licenses for their platforms and IMSI resources, emnify has its own IMSI resources and developed its own cloud-native core network. This allows us to have a very competitive offer for bootstrap connectivity.
